Darling: There was a large pool of water enclosed in stone, and she drifted near it. Chill wafted from the still pool like breaths of winter wind. A mirror nightwraith appeared in the water, all smoky tendrils and perfect blackness.
A drop of water landed on the smooth surface, sending ripples across the mirror so they caught on the edge, and rather than bouncing back, they stayed there and the water remained motionless. Now another nightwraith was reflected there, born of cold and water and ripples.
Typo: NA
Deaths: Getting there
Mean things: Unexpected company. Fistfight. Shot her.

Prayer: Father, please be with J, S, R, and J.

Ferret adventures: When I first moved my office in here, they slept outside the cages all the time. Then they stopped and went up to their cages every time they wanted to sleep. Now I'm finding them in paper bags and blankets again, scattered all over the floor. Huh.

Kippy adventures: That's it. She's going to live with the circus. She knocked over my lamp.

As I was reading the story I have already, I thought to myself, "Wow, this isn't awful. It needs work here and here and here, but it's better than I thought it was." And I keenly remember struggling with every word.

So here's hoping the words I bled over today rock tomorrow. :P

I must go to the store tomorrow. If I do not, I will starve. (Well, I have a healthy supply of pasta. But Jeff will starve and he gets cranky when he's hungry.)

So with a little random Google searching, I found Jenny's blog. Then I found your comments on Jenny's blog. Then I found this, and I said to myself, "Now I know why I liked Jodi so much during our brief email exchange - because she's made of awesome-sauce."

This is YA/UF Rebecca thanking you - again - for passing on my manuscript to Jenny. I don't know what's going to happen next - I think that if I can just see one professionally bound version of my words I could die happy - but I'm excited for the opportunity.

So I'm commenting. And friending. And none of this has anything to do with what you wrote above...

I'm putting myself to bed now.

(Oh, and for you, I display the icon that my dear friend and writing buddy made for me awhile back. Because he's the one character I never have to dig to hear.)

Rebecca!!! Hey dude! So glad to see you! (Exclamation points!)

(And Wy icon. *squeepers*)

I give you my winged person icon, too. She isn't as cranky as Wy, though.

I like how your harpy has a bright print dress on. Very stylish.

It's hard to find shirts that fit over wings. You take halter-tops where you can find them, I suppose. (Well, that or go topless. Which some people are more willing to do than others. Boys get all the breaks.)

Cool--I like the nightwraith nursery in that pool.

I'm torn between approving of taking good care of Jeff who takes such good care of you and pointing out that he also knows how this "store" thing works. *torn*

Haha. We do grocery shopping together. We meant to go yesterday, but...slept instead. :)

LOVE your excerpt about the wraiths at the pool. I am totally wanting to read your book now. Can you say hooked?

Who needs to eat when you can sleep instead?

Oh but I *like* eating. I often wish there were ways I could eat more and sleep less (and still keep my figure).

Glad you like the darling! :)

I like eating too--a little too much.

Sorry to go off topic. Quick question. I read your previous entry on January 10 about yahoo mail clients having delays in receiving responses.

I pitched Jenny Rappaport at a conference in November. She requested a partial and I sent it. I read on her blog a comment that indicated she was pretty much caught up on her partials, but I might have misinterpreted that comment.

So, actually I have two questions. If she personally requested a partial from me, would that still go through you? And, if I haven't received a response, should I email her and inquire or is it too soon? I have yahoo mail, so I'm a bit concerned, but in no way do I want to be pushy.

Re: previous entry
Hi Lisa,

The delays are usually only a few hours (as far as I can tell), so if you haven't received a response yet, she probably hasn't gotten to you. I think she's still got a few partials left to go and it sounds like yours is one of them. Partials she personally requests usually go straight to her.

It's not too soon to send a quick status request (use that and the title of your ms as the subject; if you have query in the subject it will auto-forward to me), just keep in mind it may be a little longer. She's catching up, but I think there was quite a bit of backlog.

:)

Re: previous entry
Thanks for the quick info. I appreciate it. I'll wait a while longer on the inquiry, then. I know everyone gets overloaded around the holidays and I really am not trying to be impatient.

Thanks again,
